There be floods.
Yesterday there was a large flood at Safety Beach that I attended for the greater part of the night last night.
Developers are building a new marina there, and blocked off water access to the ocean there, so when it rained all the drains filled with water from Baxter, Mornington, Mt Martha etc.. And flooded everything.
It was a large operation that involved 4 SES units; Sorrento, Frankston, Chelsea and Hastings.
We got the call at about 6:15pm that they needed assistance. Sorrento unit had been there from about 8am that morning (it's their area). Then Franskton and Chelsea units were called in, because they have the greater amount of available members in the area.
We loaded pretty much all the equipment we needed into our old Toyota Dyna, and took that as well as our 4WD down to the main control there. Which was a service station that was allowing us to use them as a base of operations.
Everything we ate and fueled the vehicles with was billed to the Developers of the marina, which was good.
After some standing around, we were given our orders to relieve one of the other units down the road where all the main pumps were working to pump water from the dams around the houses there, and into the ocean.
It kind of felt like a war zone, everything was trashed. And as we were driving down the empty road, you could see scattered SES personnel here and there, flashing red and blue lights behind houses. Contractors running around maintaining pumps that were behind these housing blocks.
After arriving on our new scene; another member Brad, and myself went to help the Chelsea guys get a new pump working from out the back of a block of flats. Which was used to pump out the flooded drains. No one actually knew where this pump came from, but everyone was willing to claim it.
Sorrento unit packed up and left. Leaving Hastings in charge of the area now.
Some hired lighting towers arrived and lit everything up like day.
After many hours of freezing cold water and pumping; hired contractors came and took over so we could go home.
We were there for roughly 10 hours, so it was good to finally go home.
Here are some pictures I took, give them time to load..

Everyone waiting around for the new contractors pump to get working.

Checking for fuel.

One of the vehicles from Chelsea unit.

The Frankston girls hard at work.

Connecting pipes up the contractors pump (about the size of my car).

Everyone checking out the new pump at work.

A picture of the Sorrento truck while i'm getting blinded by the contractors
lights behind ours.

Digging a bigger hole for the end of the pump to get into.

Water levels getting lower.

The norm.
Sitting at home early this morning, bored as normal. I came across a search engine called DogPile.
You've probably heard of this before, they combine all search engines into one, etc..
However, what you may not have known; is that there is a nifty little function that allows you to see in real-time what other people are searching for on the website.
Here are some things people searched for:
- honda civic accessories
- sex (no surprises there)
- alphabet crochet doily patterns
- jessica simpson
- nude boy
- correct use of word 'test'
- "repossessed trucks"
- condom
- mommy mother spanks bear
- virtual lap dance
- how to hide a body
Yes sir, the internet is full of useless things.

We're all screwed.
Went and saw an advance screening of "Dawn of the Dead" on friday.
If ever there was a movie that didn't suck the balls off a donkey, it was this one.
Cool things about this movie:
1. Zombies (no shortage).
2. Quick to get started (no long build-up story).
3. No holding back on gore/blood.
4. Disturbing scenes.
5. Random nudity.
6. No cliché night time scenes.
7. Leaves an impression on you.
I'm sure you could think of many more things that made this movie cool (if you've seen it), but these were just a few things I liked about the movie.
It certainly didn't suck, I would recommend this movie to anyone. Except children, that would be a real bad idea.
I would also like to take this time to illustrate to everyone, that if we ever do have zombies going crazy in our life time; we're all pretty much screwed.
My final vote, 4 & 1/2 stars.
